We are organizing an online survey and focus group interview about sound sensitivity and would like to hear if you are interested in participating. The focus group will be scheduled and held remotely, but the exact time will be decided depending on the availability of those who wish to participate.
About this Research: The goal of the survey and focus group is to better understand how families are coping with sound sensitivity and how it impacts their daily lives. In addition, we are working towards developing new wearable technology for helping children with sound sensitivity and will be asking for your input on what features are important to you and your child and would make you and your child more likely to adopt using a wearable device to help with sound sensitivity.
If you choose to participate in this focus group, you will first complete an online survey, which will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. If you are interested, you may then be invited to take part in a discussion over Zoom with other parents and researchers that focuses on families’ experiences coping with sound sensitivity.
Research will take place remotely over Internet connection in two parts:
1) Online survey: The online survey will include questions about your family's experience with sound sensitivity and will also determine interest and eligibility for focus group participation. As a thank you for participating we will enter you into a draw to win one of ten $25 Amazon.ca gift cards. This survey will take around 20 minutes to complete.
2) Remote focus group: The focus groups will be held over Zoom and will be around 1.5 to 2 hours in duration. We will be offering each participant a $25 gift card as a thank you for your time.
Caregivers are invited to take part in either just the online survey or both the online survey and remote focus group.
